Fabricator
Status: Now accepting resumes

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    Responsible for tending fabrication machines/tools that cut, shape and bend various metal materials for use in building complex mono-hull and multi-hull vessels from blueprints with industry standard materials and tools following project schedules and meeting established budgets
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Proficient in working with aluminum plate, Tee bar, Flat bar, Square tube, pipe, tube and other extrusions.
  • Proficient in marking, scribing, cutting, bending and installing to close tolerances (+/- 1/16") is required.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, draw materials and build projects from blueprints with limited supervision, producing first time quality results.
  • Must be able to figure, layout, cut and fit, complex parts and shapes, using blueprints, existing structures and template materials.
  • Must be able to figure, layout, cut, fit, bend and thread aluminum pipe for handrails and systems and operate hydraulic pipe benders and powered/non-powered pipe threading equipment.
  • Ability to produce quality tack welds utilizing push/pull welding machines (Cobra-matic and/or Miller Edge) during fit up and installation of fabricated parts.
    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
    Experience:
  • Minimum of one year with various forms of fabrication
  • Minimum of one year in boat building
    Certifications:
  • Must be able to pass 2G, 3G and 4G Coast Guard testing requirements within first 30 days of employment.
    Tool Requirements:
  • Routine daily use of routers, air/electric/die grinders, reciprocating/circular/chop/band/table saws, drill motors, drill presses and other power tools.
  • Ability to utilize basic hand tools.
    Typical Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to bend and maneuver in tight places, climb up and down ladders/ramps on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
    Working Conditions:
  • Highly industrial manufacturing environment

Lead Project Engineer
Status: No current openings at this time

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Manages small team of estimating and drafting personnel in aspects of contract, functional, and production vessel engineering continuity
  • Responsible for managing, coordinating, and performing all duties required of sustaining engineering group, (Engineering Change Requests and Contract Deliverables)
  • Manages and participates in 2D and 3D Solidworks "as built" record keeping process
  • Responsible for coordinating deliverables from KMI Commercial Engineering which are determined to be beyond the expertise of the sustaining engineering group
  • Responsible for making determinations of when to request help from KMI Commercial Engineering for items which are determined to be beyond the expertise of sustaining engineering group
  • Coordinates the compliance process of Kvichak RB-M Division to the Configuration Management Plan per the USCG contract requirements
  • Assistant Configuration Manager for RB-M contract. Responsible for deliverables associated with this role per contract requirements
  • Attends vessel trials and records performance data in compliance with the contract as required
  • Process owner of internal RB-M Engineering Change System
  • Liaison between RB-M Production Facility (Kent, WA) and, KMII (Commercial Engineering (Seattle, WA)
  • Liaison to Sales and Estimating regarding non-USCG contract RB-M sales on production issues if built at Kent
    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    Education:
  • Either an AA degree or equivalency of military service
  • BA or BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • PBS in Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering a plus
    Experience:
  • Engineering - Working knowledge of USCG and Classification Society rules. Good working knowledge of vessel arrangements, structural, mechanical and outfit details of marine vessels
  • Leadership - Shall have capability of leading a small team of estimating and drafting
  • Communication - Shall be capable of clear effective communication with engineering team, project managers, production management and personnel, owners, suppliers, regulatory agencies, and customers
  • Software - Microsoft Office, Solidworks, and AutoCAD
  • Minimum of five years experience in marine vessel construction preferred
  • Knowledge of federal government contracts a must
  • Capable technical record keeping a must

    Working Conditions:
  • Office and highly industrialized manufacturing environments
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities and tight time frames. Some travel will be required

Mechanical Outfitter

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    Responsible for complete installations of mechanical systems on aluminum commercial vessels while working independently and efficiently with inter-trade coordination
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Reviews all required blueprints, drawings and work orders in order to install, troubleshoot and repair desired product, part or system.
  • Checks, collects and organizes all parts and tools prior to starting job or assigned task.
  • Reviews boat mechanical systems layout with lead or supervisor.
  • Assist with launch and/or sea trials and shipping of completed boat.
    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    Education:
  • Knowledge of general mechanical processes as related to boat construction
    Experience:
  • Mechanical systems: Hydraulics, ventilation/air intakes, acoustical insulation, engine installs, shafts and propellers, fuel systems, engine controls, wet exhaust, cooling, steering (power/manual), fire/bilge system, fire extinguisher system, gen-set installation, wipers, fresh water system, head and waste system, HVAC, exterior and interior seating, helm seats, windows and doors, paint (non-skid), mooring gear, labels and graphics, emergency equipment, fendering, electronic equipment

Welder

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    Responsible for various types of aluminum weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacture aluminum product to drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction while working at a consistent speed with a minimum of repairs and following specific instructions in the weld out of aluminum marine vessels following project schedules and meeting established budgets
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Proficient in assigned aluminum welding techniques using plate, tee bar, flat bar, square tube, pipe and other extrusion with minimal rework.
  • Interpretation of blueprint drawings, including weld requirement symbols.
  • Working knowledge of layout welding percentages and patterns using blueprint charts and zone prints.
  • Finish grinding applications using manual and hand tools.
    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
    Experience:
  • Minimum of one year with various forms of aluminum welding
  • Minimum of one year in boat building
    Certifications:
  • Must be able to pass 2G, 3G and 4G Coast Guard testing requirements within first 30 days of employment.
