Response Boat Medium Project > History
The USCG's Response Boat-Medium project is part of an overall plan to standardize and revitalize the USCG's aging fleet of vessels. The RB-M will replace the fleet of 41-foot utility boats and assorted non-standard boats that are in operation throughout the United States and have been the workhorse at coastal stations for more than 25 years.

2005
- USCG thoroughly evaluates the performance of each test boat
- RFQ for production contract is released with new requirements based on test boat evaluations
- The three vendors re-bid their boats incorporating the USCG updates
2004
- TEAM RB-M delivers its test boat to the USCG's testing facility in Norfolk, VA
- USCG begins three months of evaluative testing of the three boats
2003
- Three vendors are awarded test boat contracts for construction & delivery to the USCG
- TEAM RB-M is awarded one of the test boat contracts
2002
- USCG releases the first phase of the RB-M acquisition process: RFQ for three test boats
- Marinette Marine & Kvichak Marine form TEAM RB-M
