Administrative Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY
This is a full-time position that provides both administrative and clerical support to the COO, and also part-time administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources Manager

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Handle confidential and non-routine information for both COO and Human Resources
  • Assist the COO in the management of his schedule
  • Schedule and organize complex activities such as meetings, travel, and department activities for all members of the Executive Management Team
  • Organize, sort, distribute and prioritize mail, information and phone calls determining levels of priority and importance. Answer all routine questions
  • Type and design general correspondences, memos, charts, tables, graphs, business plans
  • Ability to work independently
  • Draft meeting minutes & track action items. Work with others to collect information necessary for COO to make decisions
  • Act as a project manager for special projects, at the request of the COO, which may include: planning and coordinating multiple presentations, disseminating information, and organizing company wide events
  • Light bookkeeping duties including occasional check writing, deposits and balancing statements
For the Human Resources Manager, additional duties include:
Filing, records maintenance, scheduling interviews, benefits enrollment, assisting employees with forms and questions, data entry, running reports in Excel and Access, creating and distributing announcements to employees, and conducting employee orientations
    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Two or more years of direct experience

Cleaner - Shop Floor

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the clean up of the property, shop and boats in a safe and effective manner as directed
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Sweep shop floor, help keep offices and parking lots clean
  • Empty shop garbage and scrap cans and place in appropriate receptacles
  • Maintain back pad and sea wall areas
  • Clean projects under construction, i.e. wipe weld smoke, clean ink marks and keep interior of hulls vacuumed, wipe down exterior of hull and house prior to launch
  • Assist with: Boat movement, rigging, tool repair, shop improvements and material handling

  • Arranges data in specified sequences, assigns new numbers using specially designed software to create new parts descriptions
  • Establish standardized procedures for transitioning information into the production data base.
  • Examines and audits data for discrepancies, corrects errors and reconciles data to ensure accuracy and integrity of information
  • Compile reports of parts inventory through database

Fabricator

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for tending fabrication machines/tools that cut, shape and bend various metal materials for use in building complex mono-hull and multi-hull vessels from blueprints with industry standard materials and tools following project schedules and meeting established budgets

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Proficient in working with aluminum plate, Tee bar, Flat bar, Square tube, pipe, tube and other extrusions
  • Proficient in marking, scribing, cutting, bending and installing to close tolerances (+/- 1/16") is required
  • Must be able to read, interpret, draw materials and build projects from blueprints with limited supervision, producing first time quality results
  • Must be able to figure, layout, cut and fit, complex parts and shapes, using blueprints, existing structures and template materials
  • Must be able to figure, layout, cut, fit, bend and thread aluminum pipe for handrails and systems and operate hydraulic pipe benders and powered/non-powered pipe threading equipment
  • Ability to produce quality tack welds utilizing push/pull welding machines (Cobra-matic and/or Miller Edge) during fit up and installation of fabricated parts

Responsible for complete installations of mechanical systems on aluminum commercial vessels while working independently and efficiently with inter-trade coordination

Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides project management oversight and leadership during the proposal, design, engineering, construction, delivery and warranty period of each assigned project. The Project Manager shall be the primary point of contact for the customer and for all Kvichak Marine departmental personnel upon contract signing thru warranty settlement process
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist the sales, design, and estimating departments during the proposal stage of assigned project
  • Develop the project plan and work-breakdown structure and achieve "buy-in" on the schedule by all involved KMI departments and subcontractors
  • As the team leader, the project manager monitors departmental and inter-departmental efforts through the departmental leads assigned to the project to ensure timely completion of all tasks per the project schedule
  • The project manager is responsible for managing the internal and customer change order process to the schedule and budget as deemed necessary to achieve project delivery and cost goals
  • Identify long-lead and high-risk efforts and materials and plan accordingly, task KMI departments with scheduled deliverables in accordance with the project plan and WB structure
  • Manages the business of the project to include project cash flow with accounting, subcontractor contracting and invoice approval
  • Identify and implement cost saving measures where appropriate and within the quality and schedule requirements of the project
  • Provide project status reports to management including budget to actual, project schedule, and recommendations on additional resource requirements if any
  • Host all Lessons Learned efforts and provide project summary presentation at completion of project
  • Ensure quality of work product meets company and contractual standards

Solid Works Drafter

POSITION SUMMARY:
This function is responsible for the development of Solidworks drawings with assembly instructions to be used in production builds as work instructions. The candidate must be proficient in the use of Solidworks 3D modeling software and other standard office software. The candidate must have good interpersonal skills with a proactive attitude. The development of workpack documentation will require a high level of collaboration with a cross section of Kvichak staff to determine requirements for assembly of vessel modules and sub-assemblies

  • AA in engineering related discipline or equivalent work experience Experience:
  • One to two years of verifiable experience using Solidworks in a design capacity
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency in technical writing applications

Welder

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for various types of aluminum weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacture aluminum product to drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction while working at a consistent speed with a minimum of repairs and following specific instructions in the weld out of aluminum marine vessels following project schedules and meeting established budgets

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Proficient in assigned aluminum welding techniques using plate, tee bar, flat bar, square tube, pipe and other extrusion with minimal rework
  • Interpretation of blueprint drawings, including weld requirement symbols
  • Working knowledge of layout welding percentages and patterns using blueprint charts and zone prints
  • Finish grinding applications using manual and hand tools

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent Experience:
  • Minimum of one year with various forms of aluminum welding
  • Minimum of one year in boat building
    CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Must be able to pass 2G, 3G and 4G Coast Guard testing requirements within first 30 days of employment TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to bend and maneuver in tight places, climb up and down ladders/ramps on a daily basis
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
