Quality Assurance Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the KMI Quality System and QA personnel. While the QA manager’s office and primary daily focus is in The RB-M facility in Kent, Washington, the position’s responsibilities also include support and Quality System integration through the Ballard and South Park facilities QA programs
- Manage the ISO 9001-2000 compliance program in Kent
- Establish and provide necessary training to new and existing employees for QA and ISO programs
- Manage all direct in-house inspectors in Kent and support Ballard and South Park Quality System efforts as needed
- Evaluate inspection and testing procedures, ensure testing is in compliance with design and contractual requirements and coordinate with outside customer and required regulatory inspectors
- Perform daily inspection of all vessels for boat building techniques, parts alignment, appearance, fairness and ensure QC standards are met
- Review drawings with engineering/design and production for general build-ability and make decisions regarding construction techniques and acceptance criteria as related to quality standards
- Interpret engineering drawing and confers with engineering or production management to determine quality and reliability standards
- Develop and/or adapt inspection equipment to meet quality control standards, make suggestions with regard to procedures, standards and equipment to facilitate work and maintain product quality
- Responsible for the compilation and maintenance of inspection reports and maintain the quality related records for the organization
- Ensure proper investigation and reporting on root causes and non-conformance issues
- Analyze facts or circumstances surrounding individual problems to determine what action should be taken within the limits of standard practices
- Compile and organize discrepancy records into a lessons learned format to identify systemic problems and lead mitigation efforts
- Proactively lead risk management and mitigation efforts with respect to QA and ISO
- Oversee the inspection and quality control procedures with regard to purchased material, in-process material and finished products to assure that quality control standards are achieved
- Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation
- Compare products with parts lists, construction and work pack drawings or sample model to ensure completion of construction
- Perform tests at specified stages in production process, and test for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical characteristics as contractually required
- Perform required periodic system audits and report to upper management
- Understanding of ITAR/EAR Programs is highly preferred
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors in Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Quality Assurance or equivalent work experience
EXPERIENCE:
- ISO 9001 development, implementation and management experience required
- Minimum of five years as a QA professional in a management role
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to bend and maneuver in tight places, climb up and down ladders/ramps
- Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs
WORKING CONDITIONS

Shipping and Receiving

POSITION SUMMARY:
To assist with the shipping and receiving, and warehousing work
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Receive inventory both physically and in the computer system
- Manage shelf inventory
- Communicate with purchasing agents regarding deliveries, custom items
- Manage all labeling and staging of products, both stock items and products bought specifically for a project
- Clean and maintain work areas
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- High school diploma, some college work preferred
- Computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office. MRP software experience is a plus
Experience:
- 1-2 years of shipping/receiving, preferable in construction and or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of boat parts a plus
- Ability to operate fork lift
- Mechanical assembly experience a plus

Solid Works Drafter

POSITION SUMMARY:
This function is responsible for the development of Solidworks drawings with assembly instructions to be used in production builds as work instructions. The candidate must be proficient in the use of Solidworks 3D modeling software and other standard office software. The candidate must have good interpersonal skills with a proactive attitude. The development of workpack documentation will require a high level of collaboration with a cross section of Kvichak staff to determine requirements for assembly of vessel modules and sub-assemblies
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- AA in engineering related discipline or equivalent work experience
Experience:
- One to two years of verifiable experience using Solidworks in a design capacity
- Able to demonstrate proficiency in technical writing applications
SKILLS:
- Strong verbal communication skills required. Strong mechanical aptitude is a plus

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:
- Computers, fax machines, telephones, calculators, and other standard office equipment

Welder

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for various types of aluminum weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacture aluminum product to drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction while working at a consistent speed with a minimum of repairs and following specific instructions in the weld out of aluminum marine vessels following project schedules and meeting established budgets
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Proficient in assigned aluminum welding techniques using plate, tee bar, flat bar, square tube, pipe and other extrusion with minimal rework
- Interpretation of blueprint drawings, including weld requirement symbols
- Working knowledge of layout welding percentages and patterns using blueprint charts and zone prints
- Finish grinding applications using manual and hand tools
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum of one year with various forms of aluminum welding
- Minimum of one year in boat building
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to pass 2G, 3G and 4G Coast Guard testing requirements within first 30 days of
employment
